There are some things I don't like what Microsoft has done with Windows 10, mostly around forcing upgrades (I get why they're doing that, but with no WMC in Windows 10 I have to be vigilant to prevent an accidental on my 8.1 HTPC that requires WMC for TV). You can also of course get the information directly from Microsoft. Here's a decent article for example on the misconceptions that people have about W10 privacy. Because a "digital personal assistant" isn't really all that useful if it can't know anything about the person it's assisting. The few places where Microsoft does gather personally identifiable info are completely opt-in, specifically Cortana. You can turn that off, but then you don't get to complain that things aren't being improved the way you want them improved. Microsoft collects non-personally identifiable telemetry, because that's how they make things better. Because things retry, and they can retry a lot.
